Zen Shiatsu - A style of Japanese massage that treats the energy meridians of the body to unblock the flow of ki and help the body meridians and organs rebalance. Usually done fully clothed on a mat on the floor. Involves acupressure, palming, and stretching. Requires loose comfortable clothes.
Swedish Massage - Relaxing oil-based treatment involving a combination of long gliding strokes, kneading, light to medium friction, and in some cases vibration or percussion. Increases circulation of blood and lymph, relaxes, and may assist with injury recovery and release of scar tissue adhesions.
Deep Tissue Sports Massage – Massage, often focused on specific problem areas in the sub-layer of musculature and fascia, intended to increase flexibility, free adhesions, reduce chronic pain, and assist with injury prevention or rehabilitation. Usually starts and ends with Swedish relaxation techniques but involves deeper pressure, more friction, and focus on specific problem areas rather than the whole body. Can be done with or without oil. Please schedule at least 90 minutes and preferably 120 minutes if you want a through full body deep tissue massage or if you have more than one problem area that needs focused work.
Integrative Massage – Integration of two or more massage styles, focusing on problem areas. Common combinations are Deep Tissue Massage and Zen Shiatsu, Zen Shiatsu and Thai Massage, or Swedish, Shiatsu, and Deep Tissue Massage.
Aromatherapy– The use of essential oils from herbs, flowers, resins, woods, and roots to assist with treatment. Essential oils may be mixed in the massage oil in an oil-based massage or in some cases may be applied directly. Essential oils may also be used in adiffuser or poultices and may be used on linens or in hydrotherapy treatments. Various oilscan be used to greatly assist with relaxation or stimulation and may also be potent mood enhancers. May not be appropriate for people with allergies or for women who are pregnant or attempting to get pregnant.
Foot Reflexology– Foot massage that focuses on pressure points and “reflex points” in the foot that correspond to the parts of the body, including specific organs and glands. Stimulating the appropriate regions is intended to eliminate energy blockages to help the body to rebalance itself and to reduce pain in the related areas.
Couples Massage– We offer Swedish, Thai, or Shiatsu side by side in our large massage room. We generally do not offer deep tissue in the same room because we need to communicate frequently with the client during deep work and this could disrupt the other massage. We have a second smaller massage room if you prefer deeper work or if you would like to have your massages at the same time but in different rooms.
